Dimly in the mist
around the rainbow parts of
a second rainbow.
Across summer fields,
nodding heads of queen anne’s lace
mark a vagrant wind.
Conservatory.
Fine piece of plant I covet
fallen to the floor.
Each summer evening,
here and there across the bay,
twinkling lights appear

old railroad siding
small plumes of grass grow
from the rotting ties
late night radio
a McDonald’s wrapper blows
down the street
small cat in the weeds
by the abandoned factory
autumn in the air
cool dew
a can of rolling tobacco
forgotten in the field
wind storm
the Christmas lights
tangled with the flag

driving eighty
in these days of war
all defiance feels good
vacant lot
weeds filling the dirt spot
that was second base
light morning mist
only the roller coaster
rises above the trees
dawn cloud
nestled in the notch
between mountains
afternoon cafe
the captured chessmen
in an empty cup
