the singing finger

swam through the water

to die

rode the horse

of long-toed shoes

snake eyes

alligator man’s

tooth knocked out

floating down crazy

knife like dragonflies

one white frog

daughter danced

in the afternoon

blackbirds

water was the reason

a horse, eyes shut

had the dynamite

his throat rising blood

at noon

my father rode out

door on his shoulder

dirt flew

around the shadows

coming like knives

flies bite

I was riding through

everyday making minnows

skiff out

backbreaking, full of cotton

the morning god
